About
LGBTQ+ Advocacy works toward total, intersectional equity for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning people through education, volunteer work, fundraising, and community-building.
LGBTQ+ Advocacy is a branch of Kinney that strives to serve the local LGBTQ+ community by volunteering to help community partners that address problems that disproportionately impact lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer people; such as homelessness, mental stress, economic instability, and violence. LGBTQ+ Advocacy also strives to educate Rhodes students and other Memphians about these problems to inspire long-lasting change. LGBTQ+ Advocacy must work to center and amplify the voices of our most marginalized community members, such as Black and Brown trans people, people experiencing homelessness, and those who are incarcerated.
