On Friday (3/13), I assisted the Donation Center in the Food Pantry as well as in general cleanup and organization of the facility as a whole. I labeled, dated, and stocked goods on shelves, and swept and moved items throughout the Center. Additionally, I used a power washer to scrub dirt and grime off the concrete walkways, benches, and walls. This contributed to the betterment of the facility in its role in helping the housing and food insecure.
On Thursday (3/12), I assisted both the Donation Center and the Kitchen. In the morning, I helped to prepare, cook, and handoff over 150 breakfast burritos to members of the community. A pancake and fruit option was also prepared as requested, followed by a cleanup of the Kitchen. That afternoon, I assisted the Donation Center Food Pantry in continuing the stocking of shelves, reassembly of storage containers, and miscellaneous tasks towards the betterment of the Center and its role in helping the housing and food insecure.
On Tuesday (3/10), I assisted the Donation Center Food Pantry by contributing to a total of 200 boxes of curated foods for the Monthly Food Box Giveaway. This consisted of 36 items per box, the organization of the boxing event, and packaging and transfer of the boxes. Additionally, I assisted the Donation Center by labeling packaged goods, stocking shelves, and miscellaneous tasks towards the betterment of the Center and its role in helping the housing and food insecure.
This morning was a great day to help prepare & serve breakfast to those who are very appreciative for the food that is provided. There was no shortage of volunteers today. It was great too see the various volunteer groups that contributed to the organization and success of Family Services.
It is amazing how many people and corporations donate their gently used clothing, household items and perishable goods to the Family Service Association. The ever changing volunteers are always friendly and willing to help each other out. The staff is genuinely appreciative for everyone's assistance. The interaction with those receiving services is a very humbling experience. They are very grateful for all of the accommodations that are provided for them & their family.
